Sports Field Maintenance Tips For Different Seasons
Seasonal changes can significantly impact the condition of your sports field. Up here in the Far North, conditions are vastly different to the rest of the country. That's why it’s important to adapt your maintenance schedule to seasonal needs:
- Summer: Water early or late to combat the intense heat and mow frequently to tackle rapid grass growth. Prepare for the Wet Season and potential cyclones.
- Autumn/ After the Wet Season: Fertilise the field with slow-release fertiliser for winter to replenish the soil after the wet season.
- Winter: Reduce watering, and mow less often.
- Spring/ After the Dry Season: Fertilise for a growth boost and stay vigilant against weeds.
- Aerate and Dethatch: Typically dethatching is needed to prevent diseases in the turf. Aerations is necessary if the ground is compacted.
